The Communication Corner with Sophie Kellam

Young woman with light skin tone and blonde hair wearing glasses smiles while looking at the camera outside with fall leaves and trees in the background.Hi! My name is Sophie Kellam. I recently graduated from the University of New Hampshire Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. I am a communication intern at DRC-NH and am learning so much. I am currently living in Exeter with my parents, my cat Rainbow, and my dog Roo.

I have a Non-verbal Learning Disability (NVLD) which means that sometimes I have trouble reading social cues or finishing activities that are time sensitive. I have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). I experience social anxiety because my brain works a bit differently than my peers.

I am interested in doing this blog to explore the rich history of and questions surrounding the disability community. It is important to be able to learn about concerns and topic related to disabilities to create a sense of community.

I hope you enjoy my blog.
