Nevaeh’s residential care provider had been opening Nevaeh’s mail, limiting her access to food and visitors, and improperly administering her medication. We worked with Nevaeh and her mother to successfully reach an agreement with the provider to ensure that Nevaeh’s rights were respected and enforced. When issues continued to arise with the provider’s mistreatment of Nevaeh, everyone agreed that she should move to a new home.
While in the process of finding a new place to live, the provider tried to kick Nevaeh out by issuing a 72-hour notice to terminate residency. This was much too soon to find Nevaeh a new placement, so we stepped in again and appealed the termination, which the provider then withdrew. This gave Navaeh enough time to find a new home-based placement where she now feels safe and welcome.
