Sherri, who is legally blind, wanted to be a realtor. She took the required classes, studied hard to prepare and took the test with accommodations. Sherri passed the state portion of the exam but failed the national portion by two points. When Sherri requested accommodations from the testing company to take the test again, as is allowed for everyone, the company refused.
Sherri called DRC-NH for help. Her DRC-NH attorney immediately contacted the testing center to explain its obligation to accommodate Sherri’s disability. Soon after, the testing company agreed to arrange the accommodations Sherri needed. When Sherri took the test again, she passed. Because of DRC-NH’s advocacy, Sherri fulfilled her dream of becoming a realtor.
