Baby Ryleigh was born with multiple disabilities, including spinabifida, hydrocephalus, scoliosis, and breathing and feeding difficulties. She required frequent and intensive medical services. Doctors encouraged her mother, Nicole, to apply for a special Medicaid program. However, the family was denied access because they could not prove that Ryleigh’s condition existed for more than three months – at the time Ryleigh was only two months old. Nicole turned to DRC-NH for help. The ineligibility decision was appealed and overturned, and Ryleigh was found eligible for the Medicaid program.
