The Disability Rights Center – New Hampshire (DRC) received $36,000 funding from the New Hampshire Bar Foundation’s IOLTA grants program. The grant will be used to support DRC’s operating expenses.
The Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program is a partnership between attorneys and the banking community where interest on certain lawyer trust accounts is paid to the New Hampshire Bar Foundation, resulting in a statewide grant program to promote justice. Through IOLTA, interest on amounts either too nominal or held for too short a time period to warrant establishment of a separate client account are forwarded to the Foundation. IOLTA grants fund nonprofit organizations that provide free or reduced-fee civil legal services to our most disadvantaged residents, and/or educational programs about the law and the courts. More information about the New Hampshire Bar Foundation and the IOLTA program can be found at http://www.nhbarfoundation.org/
Lynne Clay, DRC’s Interim Executive Director, expressed her appreciation for the award. “With the support of the NH Bar Foundation, DRC will be able to expand our ability to protect the rights of our most vulnerable citizens,” she said.
